The Cottages are within a short distance of local amenities, Thirsk, Kilburn and the White Horse, Sutton Bank, James Herriot Centre, Ampleforth, Byland Abbey, Rievaulx, Helmsley, Whiby, Scarborough, Filey, York, Harrogate, Ripon are all in close proximity.

Gormire Lake is a just a mile from the cottages, visitors report that the lake and Garbutt Wood, which encroaches right up to the shore, have an ‘otherworldly’ and ‘fairytale’ quality, in recent times it was named as one of the best wild swimming spots in Britain!

From winter warming retreats, with a roaring log fire and evenings spent curled up on the sofa, to summer days surrounded with the heady fragrance of cottage flowers and beautiful eucalyptus. The Cottages are perfect for sharing with family and friends, or if you’re looking for a more intimate escape and an opportunity to reflect, then these Cottages are equally an idyllic haven for those craving a little me time.

"A fantastic holiday cottage- Beautifully decorated with all amenities and in an ideal location to explore the local North Yorkshire sights- beautiful walks on your doorstep, an hour drive from the Seaside towns of Whitby and Scarborough and similar distance to York."

We also did a fantastic mountain bike ride at Sutton Bank (5 min drive), hiring bikes from Sutton Bank bike hire. Multiple Supermarkets in Thirsk are only a 10 min drive away made shopping for food very easy. The house itself offers very comfortable accommodation. The garden is very well maintained and shared with Woodside Barn, which was absolutely ideal for our joint family holiday with my sister’s family. I would wholeheartedly recommend Gormire cottage to others and would love to return in the future.

"Just spent a fabulous week exploring Yorkshire."

Woodside barn was perfect as a base for us, providing a cosy, homely welcome. Natasha was on hand in case we had any questions. The barn was very comfortably furnished with good quality bed linen and towels commensurate with those you find in better hotels. The surrounding countryside was beautiful and we enjoyed walking down the drive and across the fields to meet the animals with our grandson. I would thoroughly recommend staying here.

"This is a really lovely property in a gorgeous setting."

The property is very well equipped (apart from perhaps a shortage of cups/mugs to allow for dishwashing). It was scrupulously clean with face masks and sanitiser provided. The beds and furniture are very comfortable and the log burner an added bonus.

"A really tastefully furnished cottage with all amenities you could wish for."

There were candles throughout should you wish to create an even more cosy atmosphere. Situated within easy reach of Thirsk, Sutton Bank and beautiful walks. We drove to the coast (1hr) and to the Dales (also 1hr) on a few days so it really allows the best of both worlds.….one of the best kept cottages we have stayed in and I would recommend it to anyone.

"Absolutely stunning cottage and surroundings!"

Lots of lovely little touches, and Prosecco on arrival. The mini pool table in another space kept the kids entertained, and there are plenty of beautiful walks from the farm and trips out to gorgeous Saltburn beach, Fountains Abbey, York, Alpamare Water Park… This place has everything. Natasha was a fantastic host. Everything was perfect. Thank you for a fabulous holiday! We will be back!
